“Inspiration comes after I begin, I don't wait for it, I begin, and it finds me, it is like stepping onto an invisible bridge - like Indiana Jones did, I see the bridge in my heart and mind's eye, and the process begins, I feel as if I am involved in real magic. In a hushed and darkened theater a magician waves his wand and something materializes - we call it magic. A painter waves his brush his (light saber) in his studio and a whole new visible world takes form, it materializes out of thin air, we call it art. Painting for me is creating magic, making the invisible - visible, allowing the invisible bridge to appear. When I am at the easel, I feel like a combination of magician and conductor, I conduct and connect dots of paint and light. Magic happens when I persistently show up at my easel and take leap after leap onto the white canvas, making one mark, then another as I journey across to the other side.”
