Drawing "Sanctuary" on the canvas.
Platform to stand on so I can reach the top of the painting.
This painting has raised me to new heights - "Necessity is the Mother of Invention."
Check out my seating arrangement.
Now that the the under-painting has been completed, I will now begin to add bright, vibrant colors. Tune in next time!
Finally I can begin painting. I'm loving every minute of this. I am noticing strange cravings for peanut butter and banana sandwiches....
These are just the first layers of paint to go on the canvas. This area is by no means finished yet. Stay tuned for the next Blog Update to see how the painting matures.
I'm sure you've heard it said that artists feel that their paintings are like their children. Well, I'm pregnant, artistically speaking.
Below is a cyber sonogram of the seed of the painting.
Some of you are familiar with my work, but few get to see the process. This sketch could be likened to the gleam in a parent's eye. There is so much energy in the beginning of something. So much excitement, I feel like a racehorse at the gate. I want to get started so badly, I can hardly stand it.
This painting will be approximately 6 x 5 feet, oil on canvas, and I anticipate it to take at least nine months to complete. This blog will be a cyber sonogram-- my studio from the inside-out so you can share the process of creation with me.
Living with a Painting
by Denise Levertoff
It ripens while I sleep
Afternoons on the old sofa
The forms ready themselves for dazed refreshed waking senses to bite on
And taste with the mind's tongue
Yes, that confusion comes of sleep and all was ripe before and eye green
Yes, its true, one who makes it and one who needs it
The work ripens within the temper of living round about it
That brings us tribute as rain
Until a cold arbitrary violet reveals itself as radiance
The defining halo and discovered geometry
Shows in their harvest time
Vase, lute, Beaker
